The Senate Judiciary Committee delayed by at least a week a vote on President Trump’s nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) to be attorney general. The delay was requested by Democrats on the committee after staff receiving 188 pages from Senator Sessions in response to questions from committee members on the nomination, said Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the panel’s ranking member. After announcing the vote delay, the committee approved an authorization bill, and paid tribute to a long-time committee staffer.
