President Trump participated in a ceremonial swearing-in for Defense Secretary James Mattis. Following the swearing-in, President Trump delivered brief remarks and signed an executive order allowing for new vetting measures of refugees that he said would prevent terrorists from entering the country. This is the Executive Order being called a “travel ban” it is also being called a “Muslim Ban”. He also signed another order to expand and modernize the military, including its nuclear arsenal and special operation forces.

Vice President Pence, White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway, Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), and Representative Mia Love (R-UT) were among the speakers at the annual March for Life rally in Washington, DC. Vice President Pence was the highest-ranking elected official to ever address the march, which was celebrating its 44th year. The speakers talked about their support for anti-abortion legislation, and promised that lawmakers in the 115th Congress and the Trump administration were opposed to abortion, and to Planned Parenthood, the national organization of health clinics. Afterward, marchers began making their way toward Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court.
